Montréal – 6 novembre 2008 – Bang announces the completion of the first phase today of their enhanced datacenter project. In an effort to reduce server sprawl, improve availability, and reduce power consumption Bang has deployed a server cluster based on VMware ESX Enterprise. Many of the existing servers have been consolidated and migrated onto the cluster, providing for a much higher levels of availability.
With new investments approaching 50,000$ in equipment; including Dell PowerEdge Servers, QLogic SAN adapters, HP SAN Storage Systems, and new high sped switching, which have been employed to build VMware server cluster. These hardware systems coupled with VMware’s enterprise suite, including VMotion, Dynamic Resource Scheduler, and HA allow Bang to deliver a higher level of availability to our hosted services as well as client applications. The move to virtualization allows Bang to perform hardware upgrades and maintenance with minimal to no interruption in services. As an added benefit the move has also reduced power and cooling requirements at the data center.
When asked how the move will impact customers President Robert Hélie said “With these investments we will increase overall performance and availability for our client’s applications and we should be able to virtually eliminate all downtime related to planned maintenance.”
Bang’s new clustered solution uses the latest in Intel Quad Core processing power, effectively delivering 4 times the processing power than was in place before. Coupled with the new high speed SAN storage system and the most advanced virtualization technology available, this allows Bang to expand the server farm without compromise to performance or applications. “We now have in place hardware that is both easily scalable and extremely high performing, we have raised the bar to a new level with this system.
